Burm and Emily's Elephant Sanctuary

Chiang Mai, Thailand

A family-run sanctuary where rescued elephants roam freely across 200 acres of pristine forest, offering an intimate glimpse into elephant rehabilitation.

About this place

Founded by a local Karen family, this sanctuary limits visitors to just 8 people per day to minimize stress on their 12 resident elephants. Visit during the early morning feeding (7 AM) when elephants are most active, and bring a good camera with telephoto lens as you'll observe from respectful distances. The sanctuary doesn't allow direct contact but offers the most authentic elephant behavior viewing in Thailand.
