Chiang Mai
The cultural capital of the North with ancient temples, cooking classes, and night markets.
About this place
Chiang Mai was founded in 1296 as the capital of the Lanna Kingdom, and that rich heritage permeates every corner. Over 300 temples dot the city and surrounding hills. The Old City, still partially surrounded by moats and walls, is home to revered temples like Wat Chedi Luang and Wat Phra Singh. Beyond temples, Chiang Mai has become Thailand's creative hub, with thriving art, music, and culinary scenes.
