Hat Yao Beach (Phang Nga)

Phang Nga, Thailand

Not to be confused with other 'Long Beaches' in Thailand, this 3-kilometer stretch near Takua Pa remains blissfully undeveloped with only a handful of local fishing families.

About this place

Take Highway 4 north from Khao Lak and turn left at the small sign just past Takua Pa town - most GPS systems don't recognize this location. The beach fronts the Andaman Sea with gentle waves and golden sand, backed by casuarina trees where locals hang hammocks. A small restaurant called 'Rim Talay' (literally 'by the sea') serves amazing tom yam goong made with just-caught prawns. Camping is possible with permission from local families.
