Wat Tham Sua (Tiger Cave Temple)

Krabi, Thailand

Climb 1,237 steps to a golden Buddha statue atop a limestone karst, with caves containing ancient meditation chambers carved into the rock face.

About this place

Start your climb at dawn (5:30 AM) to avoid heat and catch sunrise from the summit - the golden hour light filtering through the cave openings creates magical photography opportunities. Bring plenty of water and wear good grip shoes as the steps are steep and can be slippery. The lower caves contain monk meditation chambers that have been used for over 1,000 years.
